If you are looking for learn to read programs for adults, we are here for you at Broward Community Schools. Reading is a fundamental tool but can be a struggle to master in a fast-paced world with busy schedules and piles of other responsibilities. We can help.
Adult Reading Program
Our adult reading program provides a welcoming setting to learn to read with other adults who are also learning as well. We always have small class sizes to give you more one-on-one attention from the instructor, if need be. By completing this class, you can improve your workforce skills, opening yourself up to so many more opportunities.
Class Details
The adult reading program takes place Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. It’s offered in two optional adult reading locations. You can opt to take the class at McNicol Recreation Center in Hollywood, FL, or at Plantation Community School in Plantation, FL. The class is only $30. (There is an activity and assessment fee for new students.) You can easily fill out an application online to enroll in the class.
Learn as a Family
Want to get your family involved in the fun? We also offer a family literacy program. This class is for you to build your reading skills alongside your children. This is a beneficial skill for you both to learn together and you can even study for your GED®. What a great way to improve your employability skills and teach your children the importance of learning.
Other Reading Opportunities
Looking to improve your existing reading skills? In Merrill Ream Speed Reading, you will learn to read faster and with better comprehension. This complete speed-reading experience is meant to build lasting proficiency as a speed-reader. You can opt to take a six-week, instructor-led course. Or, you can choose to take this course on your own terms, with no instructor. Then, you’ll have three months of access to the course to finish with your own schedule in mind.
