If you’re looking for new skills that can help you advance in your career field or transition into a new one entirely, Broward Community Schools courses can help. One class that’s enrolling students right now is our Medical Billing and Coding class.

This course is dedicated to teaching students the skills they’ll you need to succeed in the medical field.

Prerequisites and Requirements

The Medical Billing and Coding course requires students to complete a Medical Terminology class before enrolling. You’ll also need three books for this course, but they can be used in future medical billing and coding courses as well.

Class Details

Students will learn more about the “codes” used by doctors and physicians when they are treating patients. These codes refer to certain medical issues and conditions. They are used to ensure that patients are properly cared for and that their insurance provider is properly billed for treatments offered.

Obviously, this is a crucial role in any doctor’s office. Skilled practitioners in this field are in demand, meaning those well-versed in Medical Billing and Coding will have many job prospects. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the number of roles in this field could grow by as much as eight percent between 2019 and 2029.

The class starts on January 18, 2022, and runs through March 8, 2022. It will last for eight sessions, taking place every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Each class will take place at Piper Community School in Sunrise.
